Danny Martinez - Guard Director
 

Danny has been a colorguard instructor for over 30 years and worked most recently locally at Lake Highlands High School and Highland Park High school.   He has been an active performer, instructor, and judge with the North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) and has served on the Board of Directors as President of NTCA for 10 years.

Mr. Martinez has been involved with the design and instruction of winterguards since 1992.  From 1992-1999 he instructed at Springtown High School and led them to be one of the top colorguards in the Ft. Worth area.  From 2000-2008, Danny taught at Crowley High School which was named National Champion by Marching Auxiliaries in 2006.  Mr. Martinez also taught the award winning colorguard in The Colony during this time.

Mr. Martinez has taught many different levels and ages of students, from an elementary winterguard program at Alvord Elementary School, teaching a group of 3rd graders how to spin a flag and rifle, to working with Legacy Senior Winterguard with adults over the age of 30.  He also worked for Marching Auxiliaries for 14 years and taught at numerous colorguard camps all over the country.

Mr. Martinez  was the director of Ars Nova “A” winterguard (a 6 time WGI Finalist) and was the director of White Gold for 2 years.  White Gold won the bronze medal in 2011 at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH.

​

Mr. Martinez’s passion is colorguard and he strives to teach his students that “the quest for Performance Excellence never ends”.
