Mr. Patrick Overturf - Percussion Specialist


Patrick Overturf is a percussionist, educator, and composer based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since arriving in Dallas in 2017 Patrick has maintained a busy performing and teaching career. His students in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Richardson ISD,
Melissa ISD and Highland Park ISD have had great success in TMEA and ATSSB All-State and Solo & Ensemble contests.

As a jazz vibraphonist, he has performed with John Fedchock, Randy Brecker, Wayne Wallace, Corey Christiansen, Steve Houghton, and many more. Patrick has also led his own groups dedicated to performing his music as well as repertory ensembles
performing the music of Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson. In addition to his work as a jazz vibraphonist, Patrick has also performed in a variety of symphonic and chamber settings as a classical percussionist.


Prior to relocating to Dallas, Patrick obtained a Master’s of Music in Percussion Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. While at Indiana University he studied with Steve Houghton, John Tafoya, and Michael Spiro. He also obtained a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at Capital University where he studied with Bob Breithaupt, Eric Paton, Nathan Anders, Benjamin Ramirez, and Ryan Kilgore.


In his spare time, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife, Carole, and their two cats, Maestro and Oscar. He is also an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs.
