The Reedy Percussion section is open to all percussionists (and select double reeds in the fall) who have successfully participated in a middle school band program. The members of Reedy Percussion focus on the Reedy Band Competition show, along with All-State music in the fall semester. The Reedy Percussion Section participates at all events as part of the Reedy Marching Band, as well as regional drumline competitions.
During the spring semester, the Reedy Percussion students perform solos at the UIL Solo Ensemble Contest and will audition for placement in UIL performing groups.
In addition, the Reedy Percussion Ensemble presents its annual concert, “Rhythmic Configurations” during the Spring semester, featuring students from Pearson and Pioneer Heritage Middle Schools., as well as many Guest Artists.
The percussion class is “double blocked” for all percussion students in the first semester. During the second semester, students will be enrolled in the percussion class for a “single-block” and an ability-based band class for a “single-block”.
