Mr. Jack Zellar -

Assistant Director of Bands

Jack Zellar is the Assistant Director of Bands at Rick Reedy High School in Frisco, TX.   At Reedy, Mr. Zellar serves as a co-director of the Reedy Marching Band as well as the conductor of the Wind Symphony and the Symphonic Band.

Mr. Zellar is in his seventh year of teaching. He previously taught at Colleyville Heritage High School, Lovejoy High School, and Duncanville High School. Mr. Zellar’s concert bands regularly receive first division ratings at UIL and high praise at various independent contests. Mr. Zellar’s marching bands also regularly receive first divisions at UIL as well as independent contests and have made finals at BOA, UIL Area, and have made the State Marching Band Contest. Mr. Zellar is also a member of the Mansfield Wind Symphony on Saxophone where he has performed at the Round Top Concert Band Festival and the Texas Bandmasters Association Clinic and Convention. 

 

Prior to teaching, Mr. Zellar attended Sam Houston State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in music education. During his time at SHSU he was a member of the symphonic band and wind ensemble as a saxophonist. Mr. Zellar was also a four year member of the Bearkat Marching Band serving as student assistant under Dr. Brian Gibbs. Mr. Zellar is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Young Band Directors of Texas.

 

When Mr. Zellar isn't working, he enjoys going to the gym, watching anime, and plays baseball most Saturdays or Sundays in various recreational baseball leagues. Mr. Zellar resides happily in Little Elm, TX with his wife Meghan, his cat Ophelia, and three dogs Remy, Sandy, and Beaux.
